Antimicrobial Use and Resistance in Pigs and Chickens: A review of the science, policy, and control practices from farm to slaughter
This report summarizes and evaluates the scientific knowledge and pertinent policy around the world on AMR and antimicrobial use (AMU) in pigs and chickens. This document will serve as a reference document for public heath, regulatory, and agricultural policy makers and will hopefully initiate intense discussion among and between these groups. Public health practitioners may find it informative regarding notable AMR risks to the Canadian population related to food and agriculture. Key research and policy gaps have been identified that compromise our ability to control this problem.
