Dr. Yoav Keynan‘s research focuses on the immune and genetic factors involved in immune activation and their roles in HIV acquisition, progression, and end-organ dysfunction. His multidisciplinary approach integrates epidemiology, clinical aspects, microbiome studies, and host immune responses to understand pulmonary infections in HIV-infected individuals. Additionally, Dr. Keynan investigates early markers of tuberculosis acquisition and factors that determine susceptibility. His research focuses on co-infections among marginalized populations locally and through international collaboration.
Research focus areas include:
- HIV disease progression: immunogenetic determinants and anti-inflammatory interventions
- Influenza: innate and adaptive immune responses to infection and vaccination
- Infectious disease management: pyogenic liver abscess, HIV care, opportunistic infections
- Latent to active TB transition: host gene expression and cytokine profile
