Kim has been an active member of Patients for Patient Safety Canada since 2009. She is recognized as a patient safety champion with the World Health Organization. Her patient advocacy work centers on health-care acquired infections, sepsis, antimicrobial resistance and stewardship, dementia and patient engagement. Kim is a public representative on the Infection Prevention and Control Canada Board, a member of the patient council for Sepsis Canada, a patient and family advisor for the Saskatchewan Health Authority, and the Provincial (SK) Patient Safety Executive Committee. In addition to participating in working groups and public speaking, Kim has used storytelling and art to reach diverse audiences.
