Gayatri Jayaraman

Gaya Jayaraman, MPH, PhD, has worked with Health Canada/Public Health Agency of Canada for the past ten years. Currently, she heads the Epidemiology and Surveillance Section within the Community Acquired Infections Division, Public Health Agency of Canada. The Section contributes to surveillance and epidemiology initiatives among populations vulnerable to sexually-transmitted and blood-borne infections, in collaboration with provincial and territorial representatives, international agencies and other partners. Prior to joining the Public Health Agency of Canada, Dr. Jayaraman worked as a Consultant on public health program development and evaluation projects with various bilateral and nongovernmental organizations in East Africa, India, Vietnam, and Bosnia & Herzegovina. She holds a PhD from the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Rochester, NY and a Master’s of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, Maryland. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Community Medicine at the University of Ottawa. (From naho.ca)
