Dr. Jane Heffernan

Dr. Jane Heffernan is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at York University and an inaugural York Research Chair (Tier II) in Multi-Scale Quantitative Methods for Evidence-based Health Policy. She is a co-director of the Centre for Disease Modelling, is President-Elect of the Society for Mathematical Biology, and is a Member of the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists. She is a Scientific Advisor to the Canadian COVID Immunity Task Force, and Health Canada’s COVID Demand Modelling Group. Dr. Heffernan’s research responds to the pressing need for new statistical, mathematical, and computational methods of mapping, understanding, and controlling infectious diseases and aims to influence the development of new evidence-based public health policies.
