Synopsis
Access to sexually transmitted and blood-borne infection (STBBI) testing remains difficult for many people—particularly due to distance, stigma, privacy concerns, and limited culturally safe options. Digital STBBI testing services, including online lab requisitions and self-collection kits, can help reduce these barriers—but building and sustaining these programs is complex. In this webinar, the Digital & Sexual Health Initiative team at the BC Centre for Disease Control and the University of British Columbia will share practical lessons from GetCheckedOnline, an effective digital STBBI testing program that has been operating in British Columbia for more than a decade. We will introduce our newly released How-to Guide for Building Digital Testing Services and describe the key components of building a program that apply from developing a program to all stages of implementation and scale-up, with recommendations and examples for each component. While focused on digital STBBI testing, the content provided will be relevant for implementing other kinds of digital sexual health services as well.
Learning outcomes
Participants will leave with practical guidance on:
- Key components for building a successful digital STBBI testing program
- Tips, pitfalls and recommendations for implementation
- Resources supporting the development and implementation of such programs, including a How-To Guide and accompanying workbook
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.
