This moderated, live webinar will discuss the current vaccine landscape in Canada and provide an overview of the latest recommendations from the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), seasonal influenza, and COVID-19 for the 2024-2025 respiratory virus season. 

Learning objectives

At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss RSV, Influenza, and COVID-19 in Canada. 
  • Discuss vaccines and/or monoclonal antibodies available for these respiratory viruses. 
  • Identify where to access NACI guidance, Canadian influenza antiviral guidelines, and other resources relevant to the prevention and treatment of respiratory illnesses during the 2024-2025 season.

This webinar will be delivered in English. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions via the pre-webinar registration questionnaire, throughout the live webinar using a Q&A function, and during the question and answer (Q&A) period after the presentations. Post-event, a recording of the webinar in addition to a PDF of the slide deck will be posted on the NCCID website.

Moderator:

Claudyne Chevrier, PhD, National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Diseases

Claudyne Chevrier is a Project Manager and the Stream leader for Tuberculosis at the National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Diseases. She is a medical anthropologist and public health researcher with a mixed training in global public health and critical social sciences.

Speakers

April Killikelly, PhD

April Killikelly is a Senior Scientific Project Coordinator with the NACI Secretariat at PHAC. She has worked on NACI statements for RSV, mpox (formerly monkeypox), COVID-19 and Ebola. She is the lead for RSV and Rabies for NACI Secretariat. Previously, she worked on CL-4/BL-4 containment laboratory coordination with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Her research background is in structure-based vaccine development for RSV, HIV, and S. aureus.

Angela Sinilaite, MPH, DrPH(c)

Angela Sinilaité is a senior technical advisor with the NACI Secretariat at PHAC. She supports the work of NACI, specifically for the development of national recommendations on the use of seasonal influenza vaccines in Canada.

Bryna Warshawsky, MDCM, MHSc, FRCPC:

Bryna Warshawsky is a Medical Advisor with the Centre for Immunization Surveillance and Programs at PHAC. She is a Public Health Physician by background and has worked in public health at the local, Ontario provincial, and national levels. She is a past member and Chair of NACI.
