Harm Reduction

Harm reduction is a strategy for reducing the negative effects associated with behaviours such as substance abuse. The “harm” does not refer to the behaviour itself, but to stigma, disease, or other consequences that can arise as a result of the behaviour. Harm reduction strategies recognize that everyone deserves safety and dignity, and undertake to support people wherever they are in their journey to recognize and heal from the root cause of their behaviour, including intergenerational trauma.
